How to Care for Rattan Furniture

For 35 years, we have been the UK's leading conservatory and garden room furniture specialists. Many of our rattan furniture designs are exclusive to us, and all are made to look good in your home for years. Rattan furniture can be either bent cane or woven wicker, contemporary or traditional.

Exceptional craftsmanship combined with solid design and technical upholstery mean each piece of furniture we sell, from sofas to dining tables, coffee tables to dining chairs, is built to withstand the heat, light and humidity of a conservatory.

KEEPING YOUR CONSERVATORY FURNITURE LOOKING GOOD

  • Clean woven rattan using a soft hand brush, or the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner.
  • Bent cane frames can be cleaned with an ordinary cloth, which can be dampened for the removal of marks.
  • Avoid using polish as it can eat into the lacquers used to seal the frames after they are coloured. 
  • The lustrous shine can be brought back to cane furniture with the application of linseed oil. Use sparingly – a little goes a long way.
  • If you can, move your furniture regularly to avoid the bleaching effects of strong sunlight on one area.

Nearly all of the cushions on our rattan furniture have removable covers which should be dry cleaned in most cases, although some fabrics are washable.
