Holloways is nestled in the glorious Worcestershire countryside, surrounded by some of the region's finest food and drink producers. In our Kitchen Garden, we grow seasonal vegetables, salad crops, fruit, herbs and flowers year-round. And what we can't grow ourselves, we source from award-winning local suppliers. From Great Taste Award-winning smokeries to artisan brewers, celebrated cheesemakers to soft fruit growers, we are proud to champion their hero ingredients on our seasonal menus.
You'll find the locations of our favourite suppliers on our 20-mile menu chalkboard hanging up in the café.
Beef
The lush, green pastures of our home farm have, for generations, nurtured the Holloways herd of pedigree Hereford beef cattle. Slowly-grown using extensive farming methods, they are overwintered in airy barns to calve before being turned out in the surrounding fields in spring. The meat from these magnificent beasts plays a starring role in our menus. From delicious burgers to spring salads, hearty autumn stews to winter warmers, each cut is prepared for us by our friends at Knightwick Butchers, just along the lane.
Pork & Poultry
Home-cured bacon, free-range sausages, homemade pork pies, Scotch eggs and free-range Herefordshire chicken are supplied by Knightwick Butchers in Knightwick – an artisan butchers' with exacting standards of animal husbandry, run by father and son John and Mark Champken.
Cheese
Worcestershire and Herefordshire are home to some exceptional artisan cheesemakers. Our Worcester Gold – a crunchy, mature Cheddar – is made by Croome Cuisine, in Whittington, near Worcester.
Fish
Multi Great Taste Award-winning Macneil's Smokehouse, in Droitwich, smokes our salmon, duck and chicken.
Bread
Bromyard-based artisan baker Peter Cooks Bread and traditional bakery Lamings of Bromyard supply our sandwich loaves, rolls and sourdough.
Cakes
Gilly Pressman is the village's star baker. She supplies our cakes and pastries, including gluten-free and vegan treats. Her business, Canapés by Gill, is much in-demand for private parties.
Jams and chutneys
Our award-winning jams and chutneys – all available to purchase – are made for us by Christine Gledhill, of Mrs Gledhill's Handmade Preserves, in Upton-upon-Severn. Using secret family recipes handed down from generation to generation, Christine makes every batch by hand in her kitchen in open copper pans.
Honey
The local beekeeper in the village keeps us supplied with delicious honey.
Ice cream
Berry's, in Bishop's Frome, makes our ice cream. A multiple Great Taste Award-winner, they've been making luxury ice cream and sorbets for the past 30 years. Milk comes from Herefordshire cows, and the surrounding orchards provide fruit from damsons to blackcurrants and rhubarb.
Fruit
Strawberries are grown for us at Yearsett Court Farm, just up the lane in Suckley. We use them in our puddings, and the wonky ones go into our homemade jam for our afternoon teas.
Coffee
James Gourmet Coffee Company roasts and blends our coffee in Hereford.
Beers and ales
The celebrated Wye Valley Brewery, in Stoke Lacey, supplies us with its world-famous HPA, while craft beers, all named after fancy chickens, are brewed just along the lane in Suckley at The Hop Shed.
Cider
Newton Court Cider in Leominster, Robinsons of Tenbury, Oliver's Perry of Hereford, Henry Westons of Much Marcle and Westons of Ledbury all feature on our drinks menu.
Spring water
Supplied by Shropshire-based Wenlock Spring.
Soft drinks
Freshly-pressed varietal apple juices are made for us by Clives Fruit Farm, of Upton-on-Severn. Sparkling kombucha health drinks are supplied by Willy's, of Ledbury. Heartsease Farm in beautiful Radnorshire makes our fruit infusions.
