Christmas Tablescapes

Christmas

Dressing your table for Christmas Day is one of this season's greatest pleasures. It's the perfect opportunity to move away from subtle, pared-back schemes and indulge in something bold and frivolous. Traditional red and gold, contemporary metallics, or even a right royal riot of retro colour...it's Christmas, and your table – the beating heart of your festive celebrations – should be a show-stopper.

Our Worcestershire showrooms are full of inspirational tablescapes created by our interior design team, plus everything you need to create your own, from gorgeous greenery and beautiful baubles to elegant tableware and table linen, and candles in every shape and size. Read on for our favourite looks this year.

Woodland edge table setting

Woodland Edge

Inspired by the quiet, slow, winter landscape, think greenery from the garden, textured linen, hand-thrown tableware and subtle metallics. Group together evergreens, succulents and woody herbs, add frogged glass and copper-coloured votives with twinkling tea lights, layer plates, and add more height with taper candles in brushed copper or matte brass holders. Tie napkins with velvet ribbon and little bunches of rosemary or pine.

Christmas table natural style

If space and height allows, hang a foraged branch above the table, weave string lights – we have plenty in our Gift Shop – around the twigs and hang frosted and clear glass baubles from lengths of velvet ribbon. Skins and woollen throws on dining chairs and benches complete the organic, slightly Nordic, look.

Red, Green and Gold

Nothing says Christmas like red, green and gold.  A red linen runner teamed with red linen napkins, dinner, pillar and three-wick candles standing between fronds of berried holly, ivy, pine and mistletoe woven down the centre of the table, and scattered pine cones a-plenty make for a traditional Christmas table.

Red green and gold Christmas scheme

Elevate with textured crockery, ceramic tea light holders, handwoven Maya placemats and these Elden snowflake napkins – all available in our Neptune store-in-store – for a more contemporary take on the classic Christmas table. Homespun paper decorations and place names made from salt dough will give you a more rustic, Scandinavian look.

Silver surfers

A silver Christmas table is about as classic as it gets. Pair with gold for a modern feel, with blues for an elegant, grown-up vibe or with snowy whites to channel this year's Polar Express trend.  Team with formal white tableware – we love Neptune's Fenton collection, with its subtle silver rim – flutes, wine and water glasses, polished cutlery and white taper and altar candles on glass or stone candlesticks.

Silver table setting for Christmas

Decorate place settings with glitzy baubles tied with neutral linen to pine, or woody herbs, and weave understated greenery along a snowy white linen runner for a classic winter wonderland feel.

Gold Christmas table

All that glisters...

Metallic schemes are a key decorating trend for Christmas 2023 – read more about this year's trends in our Journal – and you'll find all you need in our showrooms to create that golden glow at home. From metallic base plates to copper and gold tealight holders, faux greenery sprayed with rose gold and these stunning Hedden candlesticks in differing heights to add drama to the table, a world of glamour awaits.

Gold and red tablescape

With velvet ribbon in jewel-like shades, tie berries sprayed with metallic paint to loosely-tied linen napkins and dress with metallic baubles. Place glass votives and jars in complementary metallics – think copper, brass and gold – along the table and wrap small but thoughtful gifts in opulent paper as treasured place settings.
