“An important element in good design is developing a strong theme”, says our interior designer Annabel. “And using animals as a theme in the home is one of my favourite interior styles of the moment — and perfect for a contemporary country home.”
Annabel has put together a few ideas from nature to inspire you - here she explores the Highlands, the Countryside and the Arctic.
Monarch of the Glen

A wild highland stag is a majestic creature - and you don’t need to hang one on your wall to introduce his image to your home. We have stags to put your feet on, to tuck behind your back and an enormous (almost life-size!) stag to lie on the floor with. The image of Gregor, a red deer stag, was inspired by an original watercolour painting. With his majestic bearing and impressive antlers, he'll make an adorable living room companion. The tartan fabrics used with the stag continue the Highland theme.
You take the High Road
From Highlands to farmland, the cutely-named ‘Highland Coo’ collection includes fabric by the metre, scatter cushions, footstools and floor cushions. Once again the image is from an original watercolour and is charming, humorous and colourful. The cushions are backed with a tartan called Arran Hawthorn.
Add a piece of humour with this wooden sculpture of a Highland Cow and her long fringe of willow and rattan. Wouldn’t this be a prefect theme for a farmhouse kitchen?
Just like a real farm, you can mix your animals. They all look good together. We have cushions and fabrics with charming images of ducks, hens, sheep, horses, pheasants and working dogs – a collection that brings the countryside indoors.
Let it Snow
